Irritated bronchial membranes in the lung can swell and restrict airflow, resulting in a condition known as bronchitis. Chronic cases can lead to asthma. Possible irritants include: low-grade bacterial, yeast, or viral infections, allergies, household cleaning chemicals, and irritation from cigarette smoke.
* Treat the cause. Protect your air quality by converting your home to Melaleuca home care and personal care products. Drink at least 7 to 10 glasses of water daily. Avoid forced air heat and over-the-counter medicines that dry coughs, suppressing the beneficial coughing action that brings up phlegm. Take the Vitality Pack with Oligofructose Complex, CellWise, ProVex and/or ProVex-Plus daily. Drink 2 to 6 cups of Melaleuca Herbal Tea each day.
Breathe the enriched steam from a vaporizer or bowl of steaming water each morning and night before bed. To do this, add 5 drops of T36-C5 directly to the water. Form a tent over your head and vaporizer or bowl, breathing the aromatic vapors through your nose and mouth gently into your lungs. Keep your eyes closed. Add 1 or 2 drops of T36-C5 every 5 minutes for 15 to 20 minutes. (NOTE: Do not use Sol-U-Mel for this breathing treatment as it can cause irritation to the lungs.) Many people find additional relief when sleeping in a room with a vaporizer or cool mist humidifier. Add two capfuls of Sol-U-Mel and 10 drops of T36-C5 to the tank's water. For acute attacks, put I or 2 drops of T36-C5 on a cotton swab and swab the inside of each nostril. It will also help to steam your chest by placing 5 drops of T36-C5 on a warm, wet cloth and applying to the chest area.
Try these simple dietary tips: eliminate milk and milk products, substituting other sources of calcium; eat garlic regularly for its antibiotic effects; and eat fresh horseradish and hot mustard regularly to liquefy bronchial secretions.
